In today\u2019s Data Driven Economy, data is crucial for establishing a competitive advantage. his is of particular interest to Original Equipment Manufacturers that, thanks to technologies such as IoT, Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, have the opportunity to increase the value of their broad domain expertise in 3 ways, namely:<\/p>\n

  1. Implementing a digital twin;<\/li>\n
  2. Ensuring remote control;<\/li>\n
  3. Tracking the entire life cycle of a machine based on real usage data, optimising performance or enabling predictive maintenance logic.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    All this is appropriately interconnected with the IT systems and ERP platforms present in the factory within very complex and articulated supply chains.<\/p>\n

    Where traditional machines were characterised by high costs and limited communication technology, the new intelligent machines avail of established communication protocols, Ilot devices and the Cloud to enable cost reductions across the entire lifecycle, improvements in machine performance and greater efficiency, along with new ways for people to interact.<\/p>\n

    Smart machines: a growing market<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    In 2020, the global smart manufacturing market was valued at almost USD 173 billion and is expected to reach a valuation of around USD 236 billion by 2026.<\/p>\n

    Specifically, for the sector comprising machine tools, automation and robotics, the value of Italian production at the end of 2021 exceeded EUR 6.3 billion, an increase of 22.1% over the previous year.<\/p>\n

    By 2022, it is expected to exceed EUR 7 billion, with a growth rate of almost 11%.<\/p>\n

    Compared to 2020, the turnover grew by some 20% to more than EUR 20 million. Also the domestic market showed a 30.4% rise to reach EUR 4.5 billion.<\/p>\n
